In recent years, the demand for commercial truck drivers has surged, leading to a nationwide shortage. This has opened up a wealth of opportunities for individuals seeking stable employment, particularly those who are unemployed. One of the most appealing aspects of this trend is the availability of Free CDL training for the unemployed. Through Los Angeles County, there are a variety of grant initiatives that offer free or subsidized CDL training programs as part of workforce development. These programs are designed to help individuals gain skills that are in high demand, making them more employable.
Individuals who are currently unemployed and live in Los Angeles or Orange Counties may qualify for a truck driving school grant to cover the full cost of CDL training. Additional requirements include the following:
○ Be at least 21 years of age (perform cross-country driving duties)
○ If male, must have enrolled in selective services (requirement to access any financial aid program in the United States)
○ Provide a recent (30-days) driving record - records will be evaluated for entry-level job qualifications
○ Submit all required documentation during the application process
Unemployment grants offer a significant opportunity to join the trucking industry and start a fulfilling career. Interested participants should begin the application process online and then connect with the Enrollment Center. Before any commitment is made, our admissions team will provide up-to-date information on industry job openings, realistic salary expectations, and the necessary qualifications for the unemployment grant.
