Here is how the unemployment grant process works
Submit an online pre-assessment application
The application should not take more than 5 minutes. After completing the application, you will receive an email confirmation with the next steps. You must be a Los Angeles or Orange County resdient to apply.
Be prepared to submit all required documents
An email confirmation will be sent to you. This email will have the checklist of documents that you will need to collect. Look out for the email (check your spam too).
Be prepared to have an in-person or virtual meeting with an intake specialist
Applicants who meet all the requirements will meet with a school's intake specialist before being referred out to a county grant office. The county grant application process may take up to 3-4 weeks.
Applying does not guarantee an approval. CDL training grants are first come, first served and are at the discretion of Los Angeles County workforce agencies. Those who are approved will have the full cost of their truck-driver training program covered. Unemployment benefits are not required. Grants do not have to be re-paid.
